How It Works

Sex therapy treats the impairment of optimal sexual functioning and pleasure through improving communication utilizing talk therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness (MBCT, aka, mindfulness behavioral cognitive therapy), and take-home behavioral, mindful pleasure practices, such as Sensate Focus.

Relational problems and sexual problems may overlap and may be treated separately or together if needed or wanted.

Sexuality is an integral part of human development. AASECT Certified Sex Therapists are licensed mental health professionals trained as specialists treating relational and sexual issues and concerns.
